New Applications of Line of Balance on Scheduling of Multi-storey Buildings
نویسندگان
چکیده
New practical applications of the Line of Balance technique are presented, introducing simple and transparent tools for initial planning, short term scheduling and production control on multi-storey building construction sites. These developments were being conducted along an investigation on some construction sites on Brazil. The planning methodology is discussed including preplanning details and the control. Two new computational models are briefly presented, the first one a knowledge-based system used for initial planning and the other one a spreadsheet model used for on site short term scheduling and control. This research aimed to develop simple scheduling and control techniques as well the use of simple computational tools. The practical applications carried out on building sites demonstrates that this goal is being achieved. The use of this methodology also permits the learning process of a construction company to grown quite fast due to the use of information from previous projects and a detailed formal preplanning.

Scheduling of Repetitive Activities for Height-Rise Buildings: Optimisation by Genetic Algorithms
In this paper, a developed prototype for the scheduling of repetitive activities in heightrise buildings was presented. The activities that describe the behaviour of the most of activities in multi-storey buildings are scheduled using the developed approach. The prototype combines three methods to attain the optimized planning. The methods include Critical Path Method (CPM), Gantt and Line of B...
متن کاملOPTIMUM DESIGN OF TMD SYSTEM FOR TALL BUILDINGS
High tall buildings are more susceptible to dynamic excitations such as wind and seismic excitations. In this paper, design procedure and some current applications of tuned mass damper (TMD) were studied. TMD was proposed to study response of 20 storey height building to seismic excitations using time history analysis with and without the TMD. The study indicates that the response of structur...
متن کاملNew scheduling rules for a dynamic flexible flow line problem with sequence-dependent setup times
In the literature, the application of multi-objective dynamic scheduling problem and simple priority rules are widely studied. Although these rules are not efficient enough due to simplicity and lack of general insight, composite dispatching rules have a very suitable performance because they result from experiments. In this paper, a dynamic flexible flow line problem with sequence-dependent se...
متن کاملA mathematical model for balancing (cost-time-quality and environmental risks) in oil and gas projects and solving it by multi-objective Bee Colony Algorithm
Today, in large projects such as constructing oil, gas and petrochemical refineries, it is inevitable to use modern management methods and project timing. On the other hand, in classic scheduling case, the focus is on balance between time and cost of carrying out projects, which in such a situation, one of possible solutions to shorten time of implementing project is to accelerate activities. T...
متن کاملEvaluating Response Modification Factors of Concentrically Braced and Special Moment Steel Frames in Duplex Buildings
Response modification factor (R-factor) is one of the seismic design parameters to consider nonlinear performance of building structures during strong earthquake. Relying on this, many seismic design codes led to reduce earthquake loads imposed to the structure. The present paper tries to evaluate the R-factors of conventional concentric braced frames (CBFs) and special moment frames (MRFs) in ...
